HearthStone at Wildwood

HearthStone at Wildwood is an assisted living and memory care community located in sunny Oxford, Florida. The Douglas Company was selected as the general contractor for the $19.0 million development. This is the first project working with owner Wildwood Senior Housing RE, LLC., and developer Nvision Development. It was the second project working with the architect — Forum Architecture and Interior Design, Inc.

Spanning a total of 83,000 square feet, the building is home to 130 units — 94 assisted living units and 36 dedicated memory care units. The true focal point of the facility is the main dining hall, featuring high ceilings, stylish light fixtures, a fireplace, and expansive windows that look out onto the courtyard. Additionally, this location offers a range of amenities, including a game room, salon, fitness center, library, and activities catered to a variety of interests. Several family rooms and comfortable lounge areas round out the facility offerings, giving residents space to gather with their loved ones in private.

Throughout construction, The Douglas Company provided high level, comprehensive project management through efficient scheduling, quality control, and subcontractor coordination. HearthStone at Wildwood was the last of Nvision’s recent projects to start, but the first to finish. The electrical panels for this project could have created significant delays, but with our temporary power plan, we were able to continue construction into the finish trades. Additionally, this project encountered two hurricanes, Hurricane Ian and Hurricane Nicole. However, thanks to our storm prep work, we were able to limit delays due to inclement weather and non-workable conditions. To deliver top quality, TDC performed preconstruction, active, and post-completion quality control checks for each activity to ensure the quality of work exceeded the client’s expectations.

In construction, communication is critical to success. A value-adding service provided by The Douglas Company was regular project updates to the client. Our goal was to keep  the client informed with weekly reports including photos, to provide transparency and maintain their peace of mind.
