Construction Gets Underway on Second Phase of Cincinnati Affordable Housing Development, Thatcher Flats

Cincinnati, Ohio, November 13, 2024 – The Douglas Company, a general contractor leader in multifamily housing and senior living, is pleased to announce the second phase of construction on Thatcher Flats, an affordable multifamily housing development in the Walnut Hills neighborhood of Cincinnati. This $6 million venture is The Douglas Company’s fourth project with owner Pennrose Properties, LLC. Completion is expected in September 2025.

While the first phase of development focused on Buildings AB and C, this second phase will center on Building D and encompass a total of 30,274 square feet. This three-story building will be broken up in 3 pods of 12 units each, for a total of 36 affordable housing units. Similar to the other buildings in the development, residents will be able to choose between one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. The three-bedroom units will also feature in-unit laundry. Residents will also have access to the amenities that were completed during Phase 1 of construction. Visually, Building D will be the mirror image of Building C, a continuation of Cincinnati-based architectural firm New Republic Architecture’s modern design vision.
